Be on your way to get certified as a diver

Your scuba diving courses take place at the Dreams Beach Resort in Puerto Aventuras, an exclusive community near Playa del Carmen. PADI-certified instructors will take you through every step to help you gain the prestigious PADI certification. Anyone aged 10 and older is welcome to train for open water diver courses, which include three segments:
  • Knowledge development with classroom and video seminars.
  • Confined water dives in a pool to learn basic skills.
  • Open water dives to demonstrate skills and earn certification.



Choose from different course options

Various scuba diving classes are available. Ages 10 and up can try 2- and 3-day certification courses with depths ranging from 40 to 60 feet. Tune-up courses are available for certified divers who are a little rusty. Open water referral courses are for those who have done instruction at home and need to finish with open water dives. Even ages 8 to 10 can experience scuba with a 1-hour Bubblemaker program in depths of 6 feet. No matter which program you choose, you’ll learn valuable scuba skills with these courses.

Practical Information

  • Rental equipment is only included for the courses and requires an additional fee for tank dives
  • Must be in good physical condition, you'll be required to fill out a medical questionnaire
  • Bring your coupon, a towel, sunscreen lotion, and a swimsuit or shorts
  • $12 USD transportation fee per person per day is not included
  • Lunch is not included, so we recommend you pack a box lunch to take with you
  • Please provide medical clearance, if necessary

Excursion Options

PADI Discover Scuba Diving in Dreams Puerto Aventuras
  • This one day program is designed for guests with no scuba diving experience or no diving certification. The class and practice in the pool would take place in the morning, and the dive in the afternoon. Lunch is not provided with this activity.
  • Includes:
      • 1 Academic session
      • 1 Pool Session
      • 1 Open Water Boat dive at a local coral reef down to 40 feet (12 meters) max with a qualified instructor
      • Note: Children under 10 years old may not participate in this activity

    PADI Open Water Diver in Dreams Puerto Aventuras
  • This is a 3-day course for guests who would like to get their diving certification while on vacation. You'll learn all about diving theory and participate in practical sessions in the resort’s pool. Once ready, you'll make dives down to 60 feet (18 meters) to the local reefs.
  • Includes:
      • Study manual
      • 5 classes on diving theory
      • 5 pool sessions
      • 4 open water boat dives at different local coral reefs down to 60 feet (18 meters) max with a qualified instructor
      • PADI Certification fees
      • Scuba gear rental

    PADI Advanced O/W Diver in Dreams Puerto Aventuras
  • This is a 2- to 3-day course for divers who already have their PADI Open Water Diver certification and who would take the next step in their PADI career. This package includes five specialty dives, two of which are mandatory: deep diving and navigation diving. The other three will be selected onsite with your instructor.
  • Includes:
      • Study manual
      • 5 specialty dives and theory lessons
      • PADI certification fees
      • Note: Children under 12 years old may not participate in this activity

    Pool Check in Dreams Puerto Aventuras
  • Mandatory 1-hour pool session before an ocean dive for certified divers who have not taken a dive in more than 12 months.
  • Includes:
      • Pool practice only
      • Note: Children under 11 years old may not participate in this activity

    Refresher Course in Dreams Puerto Aventuras
  • This course provides the mandatory theory and pool sessions for certified divers who have not taken a dive in more than 24 months. You'll receive anywhere from 1 to 1.5 hours of lessons in the pool before heading out on a regular ocean dive.
