Operational Security Update – Puerto Vallarta – Update #2
February 22, 2026 - 6:30pm (EST)
Following today’s events in several regions of Mexico, the U.S. Government has issued a security alert advising U.S. citizens to shelter in place across multiple states, including Jalisco and Quintana Roo. At this time, Mexican authorities have not issued any official statements regarding Quintana Roo.
Jalisco (Puerto Vallarta)
Authorities and reputable sources have confirmed disruptions to transportation and local services in parts of the state.
According to the official communication from the airport operator, internal operations and security inside Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR) have not been affected. However, all international flights and most domestic flights have been cancelled today based on airline decisions, and security-related blockages have affected mobility throughout the region. The airport remains under federal protection, including the National Guard and Mexico’s National Defense Secretariat, SEDENA (Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional).
Our operation in Puerto Vallarta remains temporarily on hold, and we will resume services once conditions stabilize and authorities confirm it is safe to do so.
Quintana Roo (Cancún, Cozumel, Riviera Maya, Tulum)
Passenger transportation to and from CUN, CZM, and TQO is operating normally. Travelers may experience slower traffic due to routine police security checks after Tulum and after Playa del Carmen.
All passengers on excursions have returned to their hotels or are currently en route, and no operational issues are anticipated at this time.
There were also isolated fires at supermarkets and convenience stores, and some plazas temporarily closed as a precaution. All these incidents occurred outside of tourist areas.
Our representatives remain present across hotels and continue to provide accurate information to guests when asked.
We will continue to monitor official updates and share new information as soon as it becomes available.
