Description

Explore Coba Mayan village: A Living Mayan Culture

Your Coba excursion begins deep in the jungle at a traditional Mayan village. Here, local artisans welcome you into their world, sharing customs that have endured for centuries. One of the highlights is learning the ancestral technique of Mayan pottery. With guidance from community members, you'll mold your own clay piece—a hands-on way to connect with this rich culture.

As you shape your creation, you'll gain insight into daily life in the village. Surrounded by jungle and silence, it's a moment to step back from modern life and appreciate a way of living that honors nature and tradition.

Wander the Ruins of Coba

Next, travel back in time as you arrive at Coba, one of the Yucatán Peninsula’s oldest and most important Mayan cities. Unlike the more frequented ruins, Coba retains a wilder, more authentic atmosphere. Towering trees surround ancient stone paths, and the remains of temples and observatories are scattered across the site.

Coba’s crown jewel is the Nohoch Mul pyramid, the tallest in the region. While climbing it is no longer allowed, standing before this monumental structure—once the seat of power for a mighty civilization—is awe-inspiring.

Swim, Savor, and Reflect

After exploring, cool off with a swim in a nearby cenote, an underground freshwater pool sacred to the Mayans. Its clear waters offer a refreshing break and a magical atmosphere you won’t forget.

To finish the day, sit down for a traditional Mayan dinner beside the peaceful Coba lagoon. As the sun sets over the water, you’ll enjoy regional flavors, and fresh local ingredients. It’s the perfect ending to a journey that blends history, culture, and nature.
