Take a privately guided look at the only Mayan temples on the Caribbean and enjoy a quick but thorough look at the temples and history of the 13th-century city of Tulum. Get inspired with breathtaking views of the sea and even go for a refreshing swim in its gloriously turquoise beach, all before lunchtime.
Explore the Mayan world of Tulum
Your private excursion begins at your resort, where exclusive transportation will take only you and your group to the ancient city of Tulum. A certified, bilingual guide will lead you into one of Mexico’s premier archaeological sites, which you’ll enter as you pass through a rock wall. Let your jaw drop as you see the expansive grounds of this 13th-century city and its perfectly preserved structures.
Walk across the site and let your guide teach you about each temple and the Mayan civilization that meticulously built this city. Marvel at the Temple of the Descending God, the Temple of the Frescoes and the most iconic structure — ‘El Castillo.’ This temple sits on the edge of a cliff and was used as a lighthouse to guide the incoming vessels.
View the awe-inspiring sea and swim in it
During your exploration of Tulum, you’ll get a privileged view of the breathtaking Caribbean as it provides a picture-perfect background for the temples. Make sure you have your camera handy, you’ll want to photograph all the beauty beyond and below the cliff, including a turtle egg sanctuary and the beautiful beach at the foot of the Tulum site.
Don’t worry if you get the urge to jump in the water — you’ll have free time to enjoy the clean turquoise waters, the soft white sand massaging your feet, and the view of the temples towering over the sea. After you conclude your delightful swim, hop back into your vehicle and head back to your resort, where you’ll have the rest of the afternoon to do whatever you choose.
