The Riviera Maya and Playa Del Carmen in particular, has become a melting pot of international culinary fare. As the popularity of the destination has grown, it has attracted a great many ex-patriots from all over the world and naturally their delicacies have followed.

Although the vast majority of the resorts along the Riviera Maya are “all-inclusive” with their own disco – it’s not quite the same as heading into Playa Del Carmen for night out on the town. The Riviera Maya has plenty of shopping opportunities to keep even the most ardent shoppers and bargain hunters happy. There are small shops, plazas and open air markets filled with Mexican crafts, silver, and souvenirs sprinkled among the various small towns like Puerto Aventuras, Akumal and Tulum. And Playa del Carmen, the unofficial "capital" of the area, boasts it's own version of "5th Avenue" - a long, pedestrian-only street close to the beach, lined with shops, boutiques, galleries and jewelers offering duty-free shopping on luxury items like perfumes, liquor, cigars, jewelry and designer clothes.
