A wide variety of billfish is found there most of the year. You can catch black marlin, blue marlin, striped marlin, sailfish, and sometimes sword fish, especially in the winter.
In addition to all of these species, we also have mahi mahi or Dorado, wahoo, yellow fin tuna, yellow tail, amber jack, blue shark, hammer head shark, thrasher shark and mako shark. Inshore, we have red snapper, grouper, roosterfish, Spanish mackerel (sierra), cabrilla, skipjack, and sometimes Anguilla and rockfish.
Cabo San Lucas hosts over 20 fishing tournaments each year. These include: The Bisbee's Black and Blue Marlin Jackpot Tournaments (Junior and Senior), The Billfish Tournament, The Pete's Sake Memorial Marlin Tournament and many more.

Duration:
- Wear sun glasses, take some sun protector, you may also need some lip protection.
- In the morning you may need some light jacket, some mornings are little cold.
- Do not wear tennis shoes, sandals are welcome. The reason of this is because if you get wet with tennis shoes, you'll spend the full day wet. And if you wet wearing your sandals, five minutes later you'll be dry again.
- Do not drink the night before you are going fishing.
- Your fishing boat crew, they earn a small salary, so, tips become the most important incoming for them and of course they will do their best so you'll enjoy your fishing day. Tips recommended are between the 15% to the 20% of the total amount you have paid for your fishing trip. Please remember gratuities are not about the amount of fish you have caught, but of course are about the efforts they do.

- Fishing License for a day is $13.00 USD per person, one week is $26.00 USD and $52.00 USD for a full year.
